THE  WORLD  ECONOMIC  FORUM  (WEF)  is an international organisation founded in 1971, based in Geneva, Switzerland.  It brings together business, political, academic and other leaders to discuss global issues and colaborate on solutions.  Here is an overview of its key aspects: 

PURPOSE   AND  MISSION:  

   * Engagement:  The WEF aims to foster public-private cooperation to improve the state of the world.

   * Global Agends:  It addresses pressing global challenges, including economic development,                                                  environmental sustainability and social inclusion.

ANNUAL MEETING IN DAVOS :

In Davos, the 54th edition of Annual event (Started in 1971) held from 15th to 19th January, 2024, attended by 50 Heads of State or Government.  Some of the renowned leaders  attended are as under:

   *Chinese Premier, Li quang

   *Ukranian President Zelenskyy

   *French President, Emmanuel Macron

   *Qatari Prime Minister, Shaikh Mohammed Bin Abdur Rahman Al-Thani

   *U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken

   *Iranian ForeignAffairs Minister, Hossein Amir - Abdooahian

   * Singaporean President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam

The central theme of WEF was "Rebuilding Trust"  in a world filled with uncertainities.  Chinese Premier expressed concern for the strained relations between China and USA as "Lack of Trust".  He insisted for a close collaboration to gain more in the fields such as global warming and climate change etc.

THE  RED  SEA  CRISIS :  The Red Sea Crisis was discussed prdominantly in Davos.  WTO Director Dr. Ngozi raised the geopolitical issues and negative effects of Climate Change.  US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken was hopeful of solving the Israel issue by Arab World.

BALANCING  AI  TECHNOLOGY  ABD  SECURITY:

Artificial Intelligence is the double edged sword which can be used both for good as well as for bad purposes.  Therefore, legislation to control this phenomenon is inevitable and the founder of Open AI Sam Altmas sounded a positive note.

HOT CLIMATE :  Effective operationalization of Carbon Credit was recommended by Singaporean President for redistribution resources to catalize the energy transition.  President Biden's climate envoy emphasised the application of green technology to reduce emissions, capturing carbon.  Volkswagen committed to start using green steel to manufacture vehicles.

All efforts are made to lead the way for a green future by2030.  Several global giants have voluntarily committed to adjust the purchasing policies so as to lower the environmental effect in bringing down the generation of atmospheric heat and decarbonization.

Summary:  The World Economic Forum plays a critical role inconnecting leaders and fostering collaboration to address pressing challenges, while also facing security regarding its influence and representation.
